Moses named to 2011 College Baseball Lineup

Southeast Missouri State University’s Redhawks third baseman Trenton Moses was named to the 2011 College Baseball Lineup.

The 40-man roster consists of the best players in college baseball. Each conference is represented by a minimum of one player. Moses was the only Ohio Valley Conference player chosen for the honor.

Moses had a breakout season for the Redhawks, batting .395 with 53 RBIs and 11 homes runs. He was named the OVC Player of the Year and was named to the Louisville Slugger All-American Team earlier this month.

Russell wins OVC Player of the Week

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KRCU) - The Designated Hitter on Southeast Missouri State University’s baseball team walked home with a special recognition on Monday.

Brett Russell won the Adidas Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week award.

During last week’s five games, Russell gathered two hits in each contest and propelled the Redhawks to victory in each contest.

Russell drove in nine runs during his 20 at bats last week.

The Redhawks will take on Arkansas State tonight at Capaha Field at 5 p.m.

Redhawks basketball advances to OVC quarterfinals; baseball team wins big

The Southeast Missouri State University men’s basketball team has been missing from the Ohio Valley Conference Championship Tournament since 2007.

They returned with a bang.

Wednesday night in Nashville, the seventh-seeded Redhawks dominated six seed Eastern Kentucky 65-49 to advance to the quarterfinal round. Marland Smith scored 20 points and collected 11 rebounds for the Redhawks. The Colonels were held 28% shooting from the field.

The Redhawks baseball team finished a two-game sweep of Central Arkansas Wednesday afternoon. Brett Russell hit two doubles and belted a home run as Southeast won 10-3. The Redhawks improved to 7-2 with the win.
